“He Should Rise from the Dead”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

A fundamental doctrine of the Christian faith is the literal bodily resurrection from death of Jesus of Nazareth.

Indeed, the core teaching of the Apostles of the first century was that the Lord had been put to death, was buried in a tomb, and that he arose on the third day and thereafter ascended to heaven (1 Corinthians 15:1-4).

All other things which pertain to the Christian profession-anciently as well as in modern times—are only appendages to this central reality (Teachings, p. 121; cf. D&C 20:21-27).
