“Did Rebel Against Us”

George Reynolds, Janne M. Sjodahl

Shortly after the little company had left Jerusalem, the question of returning to the city or continuing the journey seems to have been brought up for discussion, possibly at one of their meetings. The difficulties of the trail may have been greater than some of them at first anticipated; under the circumstances, the wilful doubt of Laman and Lemuel was catching. At all events, the little company faced destruction as a consequence of dissension. Laman, Lemuel, the two sons of Ishmael with their families and two daughters of Ishmael, joined in opposition to Nephi, Sam, Ishmael, his wife and three daughters, who were in favor of continuing the journey. The opposition was in the majority.
