The Lord commands Lehi to send his sons back to Jerusalem once again to seek a partnership with Ishmael’s family for the journey to the promised land. Obedience gives Lehi’s sons the opportunity to enter the pathway of vitality; this action will allow them to take Ishmael’s daughters to wife that they may have a posterity.
