Redaction: Without a firm understanding of the underlying language behind our English translation, analysis of grammatical features of the English text must be extremely tentative. However, it is interesting to note the continued shift in focus away from Lehi and toward Nephi connoted by the word order “I and my father,” rather than “my father and I.” From a grammatical standpoint, though not yet from a spiritual or social standpoint, Nephi is not only equal with his father but has slightly taken precedence.
