Those who are on the Lord’s errand need never entertain serious doubts as to how the Almighty will bring to pass his purposes. His will shall be done, whether through quiet and unnoticed means or through a visible display of the works and words of the God of creation.
Our God is a god of power, and those who represent him in righteousness are given (contingent upon the will of the Omnipotent One) power by faith to “break mountains, to divide the seas, to dry up waters, to turn them out of their course; to put at defiance the armies of nations, to divide the earth, to break every band, to stand in the presence of God” (JST Genesis 14:30-31).
Elisha, the man of God, uttered a timeless truth when he sought to calm the fears of his young servant. This youth recognized the almost numberless hosts of Syrian troops at their doorstep and sensed the nearness of death. “Fear not:”
Elisha said, “for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.” The account continues: “And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.” (2 Kings 6:16-17; italics added.) With divine assistance one is always in the majority.
