At first it might seem surprising that Laman and Lemuel again resorted to murmuring, even after the appearance of an angel. President Joseph Fielding Smith taught: “Personal visitations might become dim as time goes on, but this guidance of the Holy Ghost is renewed and continued, day after day, year after year, if we live to be worthy of it” (Doctrines of Salvation, 1:44).
Without worthiness on the part of Laman and Lemuel, even the appearance of an angel would not give faith to them.
