Why do some “murmur” when faced with difficult trials?

Thomas R. Valletta

When hard times come, we often forget the Lord’s counsel to the Prophet Joseph that “all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good” (D&C 122:7).

Elder Neal A. Maxwell observed: “Murmuring can block the process of needed tutoring. Yet unappreciated tutoring surely causes murmuring. It is as if we have an unrealistic expectation that life is to flow smoothly, featuring an unbroken corridor of green lights leading to vacant parking places just in front of our destinations!” (Wonderful Flood of Light, 63–64).
