Why do some actions bring divine approval but also intense public opposition?

On the one hand God says Lehi is blessed “because of the things which [he] has done,” but on the other, “because [he] has been faithful,” residents of Jerusalem “seek to take away [his] life.” Can you think of an act (or choice) that led to your being blessed by the Lord but persecuted by others?
