The illustration portraying Lehi talking to the angry crowds in Jerusalem is found in volume one of Treasures from the Book of Mormon on page 17. Now Nephi believed that if it had not been for the providence of God his father would have been killed. To save his life, Lehi had to flee from the crowd. But where would he go? He had a permanent home in Jerusalem, but that would probably be the first place the mob would go to find him. It is more likely that he raced down Sorek Valley just west of Jerusalem and took a back route down to the family estate near the community of Lehi, was the town after which the Prophet Lehi was named. This community has been identified by the Hebrew University. It is about 21 miles southwest of Jerusalem and no doubt far enough away to give the fleeing Lehi a temporary place of security. We believe he must have been in a state of total exhaustion when he finally reached a place of safety and fell into a deep sleep.
