Several prophets are mentioned in the biblical account, which covers approximately the same time period as the beginning of the Book of Mormon (2 Kings 23-25; Jeremiah 1-52; and the Lamentations of Jeremiah 1-5). Among these prophets is Jeremiah. The Book of Mormon would indicate that another prophet in Jerusalem during this period was Lehi. Jeremiah was evidently a descendant of Judah, and his writings are found in the Bible—the “stick of Judah.” Lehi was a descendant of Joseph who was sold into Egypt (see 1 Nephi 5:14), and the writings of Lehi are contained in the Book of Mormon—the “stick of Joseph.”
